When Selling Your Home The Outside Can Be Just As Important As Inside The House

Most of the tips for selling property that you read will tell you how to prepare your home interior. Unfortunately they often don’t offer a great deal on how to prepare the property exterior. While your decor and furnishings may be what sells the home, it is not the only thing to consider. The outside of the property is what usually attracts the buyer and encourages them to inspect inside.

One of the often forgotten tips for selling property is to also prepare the property exterior. As a vendor you will need to sell your landscaping as well as your home. Tidy up the property exterior ready for sale. Buyers won’t want to see a run-down garden or yard. Buyers will see a mess as a bit turn off. They may even want to buy the property for a reduced price.

The outside is what provides the first impression either negative or positive.Street appeal is important in most property sales.Excellent external presentation can put the buyer in a positive frame of mind to view the inside the property.

Stand on the opposite side of the road and look at your house as others would see it. Does it need a bit of effort on the outside? Is the outside in need of repair or maintenance? There are a wide array of low cost ways to improve your house.

A few new, carefully positioned, plants may change the appearance for the better. Trimming existing shrubs and trees can also make a big difference. Don’t let the bushes grow up above the windows if they are planted in front of them. A simple trim may be all that is needed.

Add a few pots of hanging flowers to your porch or deck. These will give the impression that you really care about your home. You want buyers to see that you care as much about the exterior as the interior.

Planting big trees can be costly, so you might start with just some smaller plants to tidy things up. Maybe look at other landscaping ideas as well. Another quick idea is to scrub those trash cans until they gleam.

Mow the grass and wash every window on both sides. The lawn should always be freshly mown and the side-walks edged prior to inviting your prospective buyers to your home.

Put the lawn mower, wheelbarrow and other tools away to make the yards appear tidy and uncluttered. Putting away clutter not only adds curb appeal, but it assures that your buyer doesn’t trip over something as he or she walks the grounds of your home.

If you have a pressure washer, then it will be useful too. You can easily hire one from a rental store. Use it to wash down the outside cladding, paths and driveway. After an hour or two the property will appear clean and tidy ready for inspection.
