Every website you go to has a domain name. For those who may not be internet savvy, that is what you type into your browser to get to a page – like www.example.com.

Most people don’t think very much about domain names. They are just the words and characters you type in to get to the website you want to go to. For website owners, however, this name is the most important part of the website. You want the name to reflect your content, tell your business name, be easy to find and easy to remember. Website owners put a lot of thought into their domain names.

Every domain name in the world is available out there somewhere, either already created or waiting for someone to make it up. Just because you want a particular domain name doesn’t mean you can have it. Some names are already taken and hosting a website someone else has created. And some names have been purchased already and are waiting to be sold to someone who wants them.

With the rise in the internet came the rise in internet business – and the rise in buying domain names you think someone might want and then selling them. Domain sales have quickly become a fast growing business because businesses in a huge number of industries are looking to purchase the perfect domain name. Some of these businesses include:
- Finance and Banking
- Telecommunications
- Information Technology
- New Media
- Wholesale and Resale Business Services
- Consumer Electronics
- Healthcare
- Real Estate
- Education

Internet savvy people realized early on that they could make money on the internet by buying up domain names in mass and selling them to the people who want them. Entire businesses were established that make all of their money based on this theory. They buy up names they think a company or person might want, incorporating popular brands and sayings, and then sell them to the highest bidder.

Private domain name sales can allow you to successfully buy and sell domain names. Membership groups teach you how to buy and sell domain names and also include resources on how to succeed without a monthly membership fee. They include such advantages as a weekend crash course in how to sell your domain names and advice from experts. This sort of club can be a great investment if you are looking for a way to make money online.

You can also find tutorials online about how to do domain name sales that include a variety of topics, including how to find buyers for domain names, how to make domain names a valuable asset, how to submit domain names directly to buyers, how to increase domain name sales and how to make money from your domain names.

Some resources will also teach you how to exchange your domain names for special items like air tickets, holiday trips, electronic items and more, all while guiding you through the process of selling domain names and make you more profitable.
There are a lot of websites out there that offer the keys to domain name sales, or offer to teach you how to make a profit selling domain names.

GoDaddy.com, for instance, offers an individual the ability to sell a domain name on it’s website by posting the domain name for sale and offering it to the highest bidder. It doesn’t give you tips and tricks on how to maximize your domain name sales or how to purchase the best domain names to sell. They also charge a fee on your domain name sales without really doing anything else for you except offering a listing – the same thing that parking a domain that someone wants will do.
EHow.com, on the other hand, offers tips for buying and selling domain names. It offers a good basis for getting started in the business, but it is just an information site, and it doesn’t offer help from experts in the domain name selling field.

Domain selling clubs give you the advantages of both of the above sites plus a large variety of resources all in the same place. Usually they charge a one-time access fee or have a monthly reoccurring subscription fee to gain access to this information.

There are effective strategies that make you a powerful force in domain sells. Everyday domain sales fetch thousands of dollars, and domain names are sold on a continuing basis. The monetary potential of selling domain names is endless. It’s a very flexible job – you can be a stay at home mom, a student, retired or work full time but still be making money from domain name sales. If you’re looking for a way to make money online, this is a good place to start.

Online business has become the most popular way of selling goods and services in todays world. The internet is used also for selling domain names and selling domain names seems to be the latest growing phenomenon. Industries try to explore the most unique domain names fit for them and purchase them on the internet.

Some of the very popular industries that invest in buying domain names are: Finance and Banking, Telecommunications, Information Technology, New Media, Healthcare, Real Estate, Education, Consumer Electronics, and Retail.

Domain selling groups or organizations create a structure for buying and selling domain names plus resources on how to succeed in the business. They include such advantages as a weekend crash course in how to sell your domain names and advice from experts. This sort of club can be a great investment if you are looking for a way to make money online.

There are a lot of resources out there, and it is hard to know whether or not it’s worth it to invest in an actual club instead of going to one of the many other places that offer domain name sales tips.

EHow.com, for instance, offers tips for buying and selling domain names. It offers a good basis for getting started in the business, but it is just an information site, and it doesn’t offer help from experts in the domain name selling field. While the tips are a good start, it doesn’t give you the comprehensive program and resources that seller clubs like Domain Sellers give you.

GoDaddy.com, on the other hand, offers an individual the ability to sell a domain name on it’s website by posting the domain name for sale and offering it to the highest bidder. It doesn’t give you tips and tricks on how to maximize your domain name sales or how to purchase the best domain names to sell. They also charge a fee on your domain name sales without really doing anything else for you except offering a listing – the same thing that parking a domain that someone wants will do.

The Domain Sellers Club puts the information from EHow together with the functionality of GoDaddy.com without the fees. They also offer resources on how to find buyers for domain names, how to make domain names a valuable asset for potential buyers to want to acquire, how to submit domain names directly to real buyers, how to increase domain sales, tips and tricks to make money from your domain names and an interview panel with top professionals in the field. You get access to all of their online tutorials for a basic membership fee of $30, with no additional subscription fees or reoccurring costs.

There are effective strategies that make you a powerful force in domain sells. Everyday domain sales fetch thousands of dollars, and domain names are sold on a continuing basis. The monetary potential of selling domain names is endless. It’s a very flexible job – you can be a stay at home mom, a student, retired or work full time but still be making money from domain name sales, either personally with a site like GoDaddy or EHow or with a club like the Domain Sellers club. If you’re looking for a way to make money online, this is a good place to start.

Power athletes who have been training for years realize the importance of the posterior chain in order to produce power for any movement. Whether it is running, jumping, squatting, or dead lifting, the lower back, glutes and calves are the areas that need to be targeted for powerful movement. Only a glute ham raise exercise can strengthen these muscle groups effectively.

There are several variations to doing this type of intense exercise. By adding variations, you can target the muscles in different ways and it will lead to effective results. Here are a few ways of performing this exercise:

Glute ham raise: To do a glute ham raise, all you need to do is find a secure bar (or a GHR machine), secure your feet with your toes on the ground, lower yourself down by extending your knee from a 90-degree to a 180-degree angle and lift back up. To lift yourself back up, use your hamstrings and glutes, try lifting yourself back to a position where your thighs are at a 90-degree angle to your calves (in other words, to a kneeling position).

Assisted glute ham raise: If you do not have the strength to perform GHR with your own body weight, here is an assisted variation. Set the safety bars down near the bottom and as you come down support yourself by grabbing the bars and slightly pushing yourself back up.

Glute hamstring raise: To do glute hamstring raise on this specialized machine, place ankles between ankle roller pads with feet on vertical platform and position knees on pad with lower thighs against large padded hump. If the barbell can be safely placed on horizontal handles, grasp barbell in upright position and place behind shoulders. If barbell is placed on floor, lower torso by extending knees and flexing hips then position barbell on back of shoulders. Grasp bar to sides.

Hamstring curl: You lay on your stomach, and while doing the exercise, keep your hips flush against the bench and curl the weight up to a 90 degree angle from the machine. Stop at your own comfort zone and lower the weight back. Try doing it on this machine, you will feel the difference.

Assisted hamstring curl: Assisted hamstring curl exercises can be done with a partner since not all people are strong enough to get all the way into a push up position without losing the core contraction. The glute ham raise fitness equipment will help you achieve the best results while performing any of the exercises mentioned above. Not only will you target your muscle groups more effectively, you will also strengthen and tighten your muscles as you go along.

In addition to the traditional glute ham raise exercises, you may want to consider investing in a home glute ham raise machine to do the following:
Assisted glute ham raise push-ups
Abdominal crunches or sit-ups
Oblique crunches or sit-ups
Abdominal torso twists
Lower back raises
Dumbbell rear delt raises

As with any workout routine, you should talk to your doctor before you begin and work up to higher difficulty slowly. Make sure to take care of yourself, build muscle mass slowly and stop if it hurts. And don’t forget to stretch and drink plenty of water!

Margaret James writes about sports and fitness and has recently been working with Brian J. Schwab and the Orlando Barbell gym and their new Home Glute Ham Raise machine – the first affordable Home Glute Ham Raise Machine on the market. Check it out online at http://www.orlandobarbell.com.

Dog lovers spend a lot of time, money and attention on their dogs. But for every loving owner there is a dog that still won’t sleep through the night, barks and begs to be let out.

Dogs that don’t sleep through the night can be a huge hassle for dog owners. No matter how much you love your pet, a whiny, restless nighttime dog can be draining. It interrupts your sleep patterns and also makes for an unhappy dog.

Just like with people, sometimes a dog’s bed can be the problem. Finding a bed that your dog loves and is comfortable in can make a very big difference in his or her sleeping patterns.

Every dog will sleep at the foot of your bed if you’ll let him – or snuggled up on your pillow, breathing doggie breath in your face. Sometimes this situation just won’t work, however.

Dog beds come in many shapes and sizes. Often you can get adequate dog beds from a local retailer like Pet Smart. They have a variety of shapes and sizes of stuffing filled beds for your pets. These beds break down over time, get hard and lumpy, and often end up in a fluffy disaster when your dog decides to gut it like his newest stuffed animal while you are out for the day.

After the second time you come home to a livingroom filled with fluff, you can try one of the many pet beds out there that are unstuffed, made with blankets or thick fabrics. These mats are comfortable for your dog and give them a place to claim as their own, but are often hard to wash and are not much more padded than the carpet and much less padded than the couch you would rather your dog not sleep on.

If you have an elderly dog, the problems with finding a good bed can intensify. Just like elderly people, elderly dogs struggle with health issues and painful joints. Finding a bed that can be comfortable for an elderly dog can be very hard.

One option, particularly for elderly dogs, is an orthopedic sleep system for dogs. It is a bed that is made especially for our pets to ensure that they sleep comfortably and safely. It is not just a comfortable bed; it also serves the purpose of relieving pain in older dogs. This special bed is designed in a way for older dogs for alleviating pain as they sleep on it. With layers of memory and supporting foam, it is designed to provide support to the dogs body and distribute the weight the weigh an orthopedic sleep system delivers a human’s weight.

Ordinary dog beds have the tendency to collapse, loose shape or curl up over a period of time when a dog lies on it. Since this orthopedic dog bed is made out of memory foam, it firmly holds it shape. The firm mattress plays an important role in relieving pressure points, pain of arthritis, hip dysplasia and joint and muscle stiffness.

This dog bed serves the dual role of providing comfort as well as relieving joint pain. If you have a dog who find moving very challenging or an older dog that is unable to sleep well due to some discomfort, then an orthopedic sleep bed is the right for the dog. This bed will help the dog relax and rest when he lies on it.

For most pet owners, your dog is a member of my family and his or her comfort is top priority. You may find that an orthopedic sleep system can make a significant difference in his quality of life over a traditional dog bed.

Margaret James belongs to an active elderly dog and a less active husband and endorses the orthopedic DogPedic Sleep System. Learn more about this system at: http://2njoy.com/dogpedic.htm

Everyone dreams of making easy money on the internet – and millions of sites and programs cater to that dream, making money off of the people who want to take the easy way. Click and affiliate marketing is rampant, and many internet savvy individuals are making a little money this way. Few programs actually offer the quick wealth that the internet promises but rarely provides.

There is one program out there that is so easy to use that an average 16 year old has made tons of money on business via the internet. Carol Nguyen happens to be a typical 16 year old girl who hangs out with her friends, enjoys normal life like any other 16 year old, the only difference being, she logs on to her computer to monitor how much money she has made. Carol is not an academic genius or a biz whiz of any kind. She followed the Rich 16 program and made tons of real money on the internet.

To follow the Rich 16 program you don’t need any knowledge of web design, coding or any technical skills. It is a simple and straightforward method that anyone can follow, allowing you to make money and get rid of financial burdens in the process. A program that can be followed by anyone, you will never be too young or too old for the program. People of any age, experience or background can implement what Carol did to make money.

The key concept of the Rich 16 program centers on affiliate marketing. It occurred to Carol that a huge mega-store like Walmart does not make a single product of their own, yet they sell millions in merchandise all the year round. This is what affiliate marketing is all about, selling other peoples products to make money. The Rich 16 Program does just this; it teaches you how to sell other peoples merchandise online. There are no overhead charges, no risks involved, no start-up costs whatsoever. Just a large profit. It is really a very simple but powerful process; it helps you to learn to make money so that you can become financially independent over time.

The Rich 16 program teaches you the ins and outs of affiliate marketing. You can not expect to become productive without the right kind of preparation. This program gives you access to the right information so you can make thousands of dollars in a month, a week – even just one day. Carol did it, so can you. Many people think that you need to work extra hard and put in double the effort to make money online.

All you actually need is the right system. The Rich 16 program is what you need to be successful at making money online. You can read testimonials of many people who have used the Rich 16 program, they will tell you how easy it is to follow this program and how simple and flawless it can be. The best part is, you do not need any knowledge of computers; neither will you have to deal with irritating phone calls or even deal with angry customers.

The program is quick and easy to follow; you will not feel like you are wasting a lot of time to master it. On the contrary, the program will reveal the secrets and tips that you can’t get elsewhere with the end result of financial gain. Lots of financial gain.

There are three steps to this process:
1) Find products you can sell over the internet.
2) Gain internet visibility so customers can see the products.
3) Wait patiently for tons of money to start coming in.

The Rich 16 program shows you exactly how to locate affiliate programs and gives you resources on:
- Cutting down working time.
- Increasing your sales with Adwords
- Increasing your internet traffic
- Targeting the right market
- Repeat customers
- Keeping yourself safe from Google
- Choosing products that will sell.

If you follow these simple steps of the Rich 16 program, you can become rich and successful by selling products online.

Making money on the internet is a reality, and this is a legitimate way to do it.

Margaret James writes guest articles for the Rich 16 Program.

In this modern age of technology and communications, musicians resort to online tools for organizing their music studios. Many music teachers like me, have started using the internet for teaching lessons, reaching out to new students, engaging with new clients, and also to promote themselves and manage their reputation online.

If you are not aware of this already, the Music Teacher’s Helper program happens to be the most popular online tool for managing private music studios. In addition to the Music Teacher’s Helper, try using some of the tools from this blog and you might be well on your way to keeping yourself organized. Communicating with students across the globe will be a breeze and you will be able to build a solid reputation for yourself online.

Skype and Dim Dim Web Meeting:

Skype (www.skype.com) is no longer just an instant messaging application and a tool for making free internet calls. I use Skype for teaching music and it has made a huge difference in my music business. By using the features like webcam, voice and chat, that are integrated within the same application, I can get an accurate idea of my students’ techniques and on the basis of that, I can suggest ways and means of improving their playing skills during a learning session. While some teachers tend to shy away from using Skype for long distance lessons because setting up the application might tend to be a bit challenging but I can assure you that once you do a few practice runs, you will realize that using Skype can be a very efficient way of teaching music lessons.

Dim Dim Web Meeting (www.dimdim.com) is another tool that is generally used for face-to-face meetings. By using the web browser feature, you can teach music to your students online. You can assist students with trouble shooting their applications, help them in their practices and also teach them to navigate through your own materials. You can save money, time and travel in the process.

Best of all both these programs are free when using the basic functions, and are very user-friendly.

Kompoz:

Kompoz (www.kompoz.com) is yet another tool for collaborating music online. You can conduct music sessions with a long-distance student online, and create music with others from around the world. You can conveniently conduct music sessions online as the lag time isn’t bad at all provided you and your student have a stable connection. Being able to play music collaboratively is very important for musicians and having the capability of sharing such experiences with students can be very beneficial for them. Not only do they have to opportunity to listen to your music but you can also give them objective advice on their skills. You can take advantage of this free recording program, Audacity where you can record your voice notes over the tracks you work on with your student.

Stickam and Ustream:

Sites like Stickam (www.stickam.com) and Ustream (www.ustream.tv) will let you stream your own video or audio show and you can use them to promote your materials online to allure more students to your music school. Students who are genuinely interested in music will be drawn to these video/audio shows; this might just be the best possible way for you to promote your services on the internet.

It’s a shame that many of us are either not aware of such online tools or are not making an effort to use these tools to draw new students. To be able to reach out to more students, and promote your services globally, video streaming is perhaps the most efficient ways of making your services available.

Ever since I can remember, I have been a basketball fan and I have observed similarities between professional basketball and professional music. It was a Wednesday night and they were supposed to air “The Decision” by Lebron James on TV. Naturally, I tuned in to watch it with great anticipation. I was particularly interested in learning on how Lebron James channeled his career choice in basketball to such a success. Not only that, I wanted to see if I could implement any of his principles to my musical career.

This was meant to be a very special night for Lebron. People and media had been speculating for over two years until this night as to which team Lebron would sign with eventually. There had been endless speculations, anticipations, several thousands of articles written about who influenced Lebron. People exchanged tweets about what they thought; his followers had only one question in mind: Who influences Lebron? To our surprise, the answer to this question is somewhat shocking. Lebron, without a doubt, is perhaps one of the most powerful men in the world, yet he has advisors, a selected group of people who help him make the important decisions as far as career choices are concerned. As shocking as it might sound, having a group of dedicated high profile advisors seems practical since there is no room for making mediocre decisions. Decisions made by Lebron have to be “great” decisions.

That being said, the goals I have set in my life have never been on a mediocre level, either, to say the least. I was very conscious of the fact that I needed sound advice and that I would not settle for mediocre advice or mediocre results that most musicians tend to get. In my musical career, I have had the opportunity to work with quite a few musical advisors. A couple of them who have had considerable influence on me are Bruce Katz (from Greg Allman’s Band) and Jim Trompeter (from Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine). Both of them are world-class performers, hence making this choice was fairly easy for me. I was immensely influenced by their passion for music, the level they had reached and I wanted to achieve what they had achieved. And I can say with confidence that I can tribute my accomplishments to them, their influence and advice have helped me get to where I am today in my musical career.

As far as music business is concerned, I have been doubly careful about taking advice from the right people. Over the period of years, many people have given me advice and I realize that a lot of them were well intentioned but they were often the same old advices that were passed on to others as well, nothing that would stand out. It requires more than a cookie cutter approach to gel great music and great music marketing effectively. In the music world, to be a cut above the rest requires solid marketing strategies and that is what I aimed for.

When I was relatively new to the music world, I was curious to learn how I could possibly share my music with people and make a good living out of it. In fact, to be precise, I wanted more than a good living; I aspired for a fantastic living. I am lucky to have a friend in Joe Lilly who runs a $50 million dollar marketing company and happens to be a fabulous guitar player as well. His expertise in marketing is something that I have taken influence from since I am confident of his record of accomplishment. I take pride in the fact that I let Joe influence me since he has a very high-level understanding of marketing. If I were to rate his skill in marketing, I would say they are at a top 1% level, that is how good he is at it.

So my question to all musicians out there is: Do you have sound advisors who can have good influence on you and guide you in the right direction in your musical career? If you do, do they share similar goals like you? Do they have a thorough understanding of what it takes to be successful musician?

If you have ever considered getting rid of cable because of the ever-increasing cost, subscribing to Dish Network might just be a great service to consider. There are so many great deals with a Dish service that it really beats the competition. As a pay-tv provider, this satellite network offers direct broadcasting satellite service with an array of services.

When you subscribe to this direct broadcast satellite service not only do you receive satellite television, audio programming and interactive television services, but there also a lot of other advantages to becoming a Dish subscriber. DISH is also a great value, and in the long run can often be cheaper than other satellite and tradition cable provider options.

This satellite television service has a variety of services that make it an amazing deal. By subscribing to Dish Network you can take advantage of a fabulous DVR system allowing you to record television shows and movies and watch them on your own time. This satellite technology’s DVR system allows you remote access to your DVR so you can record your favorite shows through your iPhone or iPod touch. With this application you will never miss your favorite shows or sporting events.

Dish Network offers a large number of channels with great picture quality and fantastic sound. Some programming is available in HD and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

DISH offers a wide variety of packages and provides you with many options, and the packages suit all types of budgets. When you subscribe to this network, you can opt for a basic Family Choice package to a full-blown deal that encompasses a wide range of programming.

By subscribing to Dish’s networking service, you can choose from HD packages, Latino packages, sports packages, premium movie packages, and there are over 170 international channels in 28 languages from Arabic and Brazilian to Korean and Hindi. Subscribing to dish network also offers package options like video on demand, pay-per-view, and internet and phone. High-speed internet is available through a variety of providers. There are so many options that you can take advantage of when you subscribe to Dish Network.

When you subscribe to this particular network you also receive superior customer service. That does not always happen with traditional cable systems when you have to sit for hours on end when you try to schedule an appointment. If you subscribe to DISH, you receive great 24/7 customer service with a representative showing up at your door within 24 to 72 hours after you make a call to request for service.

Something else to consider with customer care is how much time it can take when your service is interrupted due to bad weather conditions. With cable television outages, an entire community of patrons can be affected and it requires a large-scale restoration of service and can take an exceedingly long time. But with satellite television like Dish Network, service usually resumes on its own and does not require service calls. If you subscribe to this high tech satellite network not only do you get great customer service, but you also have so many options, packages, and services to choose, it makes it a great deal.

Cable television is always going up in the price, but the service does not really ever get any better. If you still want great television entertainment that beats out traditional cable television, it might be a good time to subscribe to Dish Network.

When you subscribe to this satellite network service, not only do you receive great options and choices, but also there are is amazing customer service. There are numerous reasons to subscribe to the satellite dish services.

Not only do you receive satellite television, you can also have great audio programming and other interactive television services. There are also a lot of other great reasons to consider DISH and when you subscribe to its service you have a wider variety of options than you do when you have cable television.

One great thing about this network or Dish, as it is popularly known, is that it offers a huge number of channels that have great picture quality and amazing sound. A lot of programming is available in HD and also with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

When you subscribe to this digital satellite service you also have a lot of options in packages that encompass a wide range of programming as well as variety depending on your budget. You can subscribe to Dish Satellite Network and get all the bells and whistles, or you can receive a basic package. Some of the packages available on DISH include Latino packages, a vast array of sports packages, HD packages for great picture quality, and premium movie packages.

There are also over 170 international channels in over 20 languages giving you far more variety than cable television. When you subscribe to direct broadcast satellite service–including satellite television, audio programming, and interactive television services, you can also have package options like pay-per-view and on demand. That way you never run the risk of missing a favorite program. Internet and phone are also available through the network, and high-speed internet is available through a variety of providers when you subscribe to Dish Network.

There are other great options through Dish service that make it convenient for you to enjoy your favorite programming on your own time and you never have to miss your favorite shows, movie, or great sporting events again.

When you subscribe to this Dish service, you can have access to a great DVR system that allows you to record television shows and movies and watch them whenever you like. There is also a great iPhone and iPod Touch application that provides you with remote access to your DVR so you do not actually have to be at home to set your DVR. The application makes it so easy to enjoy the features of the satellite network programming.

It is also important to consider customer service when thinking about pay television providers. When you subscribe to this satellite television service, you receive great customer service. It is difficult to schedule appointments with cable television companies and you can waste a lot of time running around.

With Dish Network, you know a representative will arrive within 24 to 72 hours after your call. And customer service support is available 24/7 when you subscribe to this wonderful satellite service. When bad weather creates awful service outages, cable television companies can take a long time restoring service to large areas, but with satellite television, service usually resumes on its own and no service calls are needed. If you subscribe to Dish Network, you receive great service and customer support, but also freedom to choose from a variety of options to suit your needs.

“Don’t be an a**hole to your dog if you don’t want him to bite you.” – Renowned dog behaviorist, Dr. Ian Dunbar

I have a confession to make. As a pro dog trainer for the last 10 years (and a reward-based one at that!), I have only just recently learned the wise Dr. Dunbar’s lesson. I have discovered that there are certainly some aspects of my behavior toward my dog that I have not examined, are rather unenlightened and perhaps a tad “a**holish”.

Here’s how I learned that lesson: I have a 5 year old chihuahua mix named Ollie who is a sweet, loving and compliant dog. Ollie is the kind of dog that I would have confidently said “would never bite me” (although as a trainer I know that any dog can be pushed to bite). For years, I have been telling Ollie to “look out” when I want him to get out of my way. “Look out”, really means something like: “I am going to sit on you if you don’t move”. Ollie’s choices when I say “look out”, were to move or be sat on, and there was no reward in it for him except for avoiding being crushed. I had never noticed anything amiss from doing this or really gave it any thought at all. In fact, I thought I was being rather nice by warning him that doom was impending!

One fine day, I was straightening the bed covers and told OIlie to “look out”, as I needed to yank the covers out from under him in order to complete my neatening. He looked at me a little strangely, and I said “look out” again and started moving the covers. Ollie growled and lightly bit my hand (he put his mouth on my hand without making any mark). What I did next doesn’t really matter so much for my story but it was to tell him sternly to “go” (which is a behavior that he knows) and then I gave him a time out in the office for me to think about what had just happened and calm myself down.

It really hurts emotionally when your dog bites or growls at you. It can feel like your trusted confidant has just betrayed you. And that is how I felt for awhile, but then as I thought more about it, I was able to look at it from Ollie’s perspective, which probably went something like this: Ollie: “I’m relaxed and comfortable on the bed, not bothering anyone and Jess comes in here and tells me she is about to attack me. I’m sick of it and I’m going to let her know [freeze/stare followed by growl and light bite]!”

I futher realized that I can’t remember ever rewarding him for getting out of my way when I said “look out”. The “look out” cue seems to be some kind of a vestige of an alpha mind-set in me, as in. “This is my space, lowly dog, and you must move out of it because I am the boss of you, or else!”.

The good news is that because of our long and positive history together, this problem has been easy to fix. I simply have been saying “look out” and giving Ollie a reward when he moves out of the way. Eventually, I will only need to reward him for moving when I say “look out” every so often. I am also, (when I think of it), using his other cue to move which is “go”, which he is fine with since I have taught him that using rewards.

I have also been taking a hard look at other things that I do in his life that are “do this or else” and changing that into “please” and “thank you” to avoid him needing to tell me off again.

I have Ollie’s “misbehavior” to thank for shaking me up a bit and helping me to see him as a fellow creature with his own needs, wants and feelings and not just “my dog”.
