Qualifications Needed for Nursery Nurse Jobs

Nursery nurse jobs refer to jobs that exist in schools and daycares in the United Kingdom. Quite often the people who work in these positions do not have a university degree. Another term that could be used to describe this position is that of teacher assistant. Nursery nurses assist the teacher in a nursery, infant or primary classroom. Schools, day nurseries, hospitals and private nurseries are some of the employers that hire personnel to work in this field. However, even though the job title says you are not a nurse in terms of the medical professions interpretation of the word.

The type of work that such a nurse does includes:

- helps children with the learning and play activities throughout the day

- bathes, dresses and feeds young children

- keeps records on observations of children

- supports the workers in community settings

- maintains the learning resources and materials needed for the location

- takes children on outings

Depending on the location where you work, you may be involved in meetings with medical personnel and social workers.

In the United Kingdom, you do need to pass an exam in order to work as a nurse in a nursery. The course required is a two year course leading to a Diploma in Nursery Nursing. There are three levels that you must go through to obtain this qualification and you can start while you are still in high school. The first level is an introduction to child care. This will give you the basic knowledge you need to work in a nursery under supervision. Once you have an entry level certificate, then you take a course leading to the Level 1 certificate which gives you the skills and training you need for working in a pre-school setting.

The next step in obtaining the qualifications you need is to take the courses leading to the Level 2 certificate. This will enable you to work under supervision in any of the following:

- an assistant in a parent/toddler group

- a homestart worker

- babysitter

- mothers assistant

- toy library worker

- playgroup assistant

- nursery assistant

There are five certificates you can earn in this level, with each one qualifying you to work in different locations.

The third level of this certification will give you the skills and knowledge you need to obtain a job as a childminder and a nursery nurse in charge. You can still further your education in this field by attaining a Level 4 certificate if you wish to work in technical, professional, developmental or management roles.

In order to work in a school nursery setting, you do need to have a Level 2 certificate. You must be at least 16 years of age to qualify for this training. During the course of obtaining this certificate you must develop a portfolio of evidence of your knowledge by including discussion you have with professionals and witness testimonies based on observations of you working with young children. Chances are those who do take these qualifications often go on to higher education that will give them a degree in a field that involves working with children.

What to Look For In A Loan – 2008

Platinum Protection, a Provo based home security company has joined hands with Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo, Utah Food Bank in Salt Lake City along with the Cache County Food Pantry to do the honorable deed of making sure that the local food bank shelves are full during this Christmas season. The residents of Utah are being urged to come forward and donate food this week. Around four hundred representatives from Platinum Protection will perform the service of collecting them and reaching them to the local food banks between 3 pm and 7 pm.

Force Of Food Drive

The people of Utah along the Wasatch Front, Salt Lake and Cache counties are being requested to donate as many non perishable food items and toiletry supplies as they can. The Executive Director of Community Action Services and Food Bank appreciated this initiative by Platinum Security since it shows social responsibility on their part.

All due to the recent recession and limping economy, the stocks at the local food banks are rapidly dwindling. Conscious about this, Platinum Protection decided to do something about this, and hence the food drive. This will help those families who depend on the food bank for food. The food collected by the representatives of Platinum Security will be distributed and delivered to the various food banks via trailers.

Other Initiatives

In addition to their current food drive with Utah Food Banks for Charity Knock 2008, Platinum Protection has been involved in other social initiatives. In October, they donated over $20,000 to the Ryan Thompson Liver Fund to save the life of a local Utah boy who was suffering from a fatal disease and liver transplant. The family did not have the resources to handle the postoperative care costs. They had sold everything they could and were finding it difficult to manage the cost of medication from their fixed income. Platinum security came forward in their time of need. Their employees continue to contribute to the fund. Platinum also urged other organizations and individuals to step forward to help the cause. The effort to help the Thompson family is ongoing and individuals can also deposit their contribution into the Ryan Thompson Liver Fund at their local Wells Fargo Bank.

Interview Tips for Nanny Jobs

A nanny is a full time babysitter in which you usually live in the home of your employer. This job is often referred to as an au pair position. The families that advertise nanny jobs will require a professional application complete with a resume and references. They will hold an interview with you when your application meets with their approval. In order to get the job, you do need to be prepared for this interview.

A good curriculum vitae for a position as a nanny should be neat and professional to show that this is how you will act in the position. You should include all the pertinent details, but keep the information factual and concise without going into great detail. If the potential employer has any questions about any aspect of your resume, he/she will ask about this in the interview. You also need to give details of your personality that will appeal to the parents, but you can include this in your cover letter. In the case of applying for these jobs, most employers prefer a handwritten letter rather than a typed one.

You need to have at least two references for a job as a nanny one that will attest to your professional skills and one that will attest to your character and personal skills. Along with providing the names of your references on your resume, you should have actual letters of reference from these people that you take with you to the interview. The first impression an employer has of you can make or break the interview before it starts.
