October 26, 2009 · Filed Under Career · Comment

Awareness of employer’s expectations is essential to finding a job. Older job-hunting techniques focused on you, the person. It laid emphasis on your work history, accomplishments, academic background and other credentials. It focused on your qualifications and objectives as well. But that has changed and today, employers expect you to know what their needs are and tell them how you can complement the organization.

Use all the technology available to you today, there are many job search engines available to you, some even let you post looking for work ads, use these to your advantage. The same as a selling is a numbers game so is looking for a new job, the more you are out there and the further you can spread your job search message the higher your chances are of finding a job.

Look professional before you begin, if you have a dodgy email address; fix it! today it is simple to have a professional email address, there is nothing wrong with using Gmail, Yahoo or Hot Mail just make the address suitable for business use.

What does your message bank say about you? Using a funny answering message is fine for your mates but do you think it is wise for a prospective employer to hear ‘sorry I am out getting drunk at the moment please leave a message’ Record a business suitable message and stack the job search percentages more in your favor.

Have your resume ready to send, even better use a template so you can customize the resume for each job application. Have you updated your references? Are your hobbies and interests actually what you like to do, if you have written you like to play golf what would happen if the interviewer asked you golf specific questions?

Stand out in the crowd, if the job you are applying for has many applicants print your resume in a vibrant color, your resume will stand out in the sea of white, next day call the person and ask how it is going, refer them to your vibrant resume that they have now pulled out and is sitting on top of the stack.

Social networks, what does your Facebook, Bebo, Myspace say about you, is your profile publicly viewable? If you were an employer would you still hire you after looking at your on-line profiles? Advantage of Choosing Small Web Hosting Provider

October 26, 2009 · Filed Under Web Hosting · Comment

Visiting forums, it is common to see numerous threads asking for reviews on the largest web hosting companies. Obviously this is because the companies with the most exposure/highest rankings are going to get all the attention. For this reason, it is common for people new to web hosting to sign-up with the so called top web hosting companies because those are the ones they see/hear about first – you know them HostGator, Yahoo, HostMonster, DreamHost, etc.

So why would anyone want to signup with a startup web host over the large established web hosts?

There is ONE thing that a startup web host can offer that a large web hosting company can’t. That is a personalized service. What’s so important about having a personalized service, anyway? A new web hosting company is going to value every one of their customers far more than a large hosting company. You are one of maybe 50 clients compared to a large web hosting company that has 200,000 customers. To the large host, you are just another number/statistic that they don’t care about.

The smaller startup host needs your business so they are more likely to jump through hoops to provide you with everything you need. A smaller web host is also more likely to go the extra yard for you. In fact, some startups will do pretty much everything for you – from transferring your website to manually installing certain software that you may need for your website. One other advantage, which is not always true, is that a smaller web host is usually more organized. They get only a few support tickets a day compared to the hundreds of new tickets a popular host gets every day. Add 10 support technicians into the equation and you got plenty of room for error and lost tickets.

With a large hosting company, you would be lucky to get them to install an Apache module that takes 30 seconds to setup. This is because they know that if you go somewhere else, there will be 100 new people signing up right behind you to take your place.

I’m not saying that you should forget about the large hosting companies, because they do have their advantages:

A large host can usually offer its service for a lower price than the smaller company
They will have around the clock technical support
They can offer more disk space and bandwidth
Established hosts are more stable because they have already been in the business for X amount of years. They know how to run their hosting company successfully.

There is one more disadvantage of a large host that is brought up a lot on all the web forums I visit. I often see a lot of complaints that a customer’s website was shut down for exceeding the CPU limit set on the hosts shared accounts. A large host is more likely to boot clients who use a higher than average amount of CPU resource. In order to make the most money off a server, a web host needs to cram as many accounts on it as possible. The host is able to cram more accounts on a server when everyone is using very little CPU and RAM.

A smaller web hosting company is less likely to give you the boot because their servers aren’t filled up to begin with. They tend to give heavy usage websites more lee-way because there is extra space or resource to spare. Now this doesn’t mean they will scoot you bye forever. Eventually when they fill up that server, they will have to start putting limits on accounts or else the server will crash every 15 minutes.

So which is better? Large or Small?

While the larger host can offer more resources for a much lower price, the small web host is usually more willing to go out of the way to help you. It is hard to say which is better because it really depends on your needs and experience. If you have a bunch of websites and know the ins and outs of website development, than you will likely find a large web host suitable. However, if you are new and need guidance, than the small host is probably the best option for you. Its worth the extra money to make sure your new website is flawless.

Hand Sanitizer, Effective at Killing Germs

October 25, 2009 · Filed Under Wellness · Comment

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer has been around for years, but the research was never quite clear whether it was as effective against germs as washing your hands. The verdict is in, and it looks like hand sanitizer is at least as effective. An alcohol free hand sanitizer, like the Instant Hand Sanitizer of Cito Corporation, recently launched in Singapore, that contains chlorhexidine which kills up to 99.9% of most common disease causing germs on contact and are effective against h1n1 virus in areas where soap and water are not immediately available.

According to research performed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hand sanitizer is considered as effective at killing germs as washing your hands with soap and water, unless hands are visibly soiled. Clean hands are very important for stopping the spread of germs. Hand soap and cleansers need to not only wash away dirt and grime, but kill the germs and prevent them from spreading from one person to another.

Hand sanitizers contain alcohol and other agents that are known to kill certain germs that are easily transmitted. Studies have shown that families who use hand sanitizer containing 40% ethanol are 59% less likely to spread sickness to other members of their family who also use hand sanitizers than they are to spread it to people outside of the family who do not use hand sanitizer.

Keep a portable size hand sanitizer in your purse, diaper bag and car to make sure you have it whenever you may need it and soap and water is not available to use. How many times have you used a public restroom to find there is no soap to wash your hands with? Squirt a small amount of your hand sanitizer into the palm of your hand and spread all over both hands to effectively kill most germs you may have on your hands. You do not need to rinse off the sanitizer- it dries quickly and as it does, gets rid of the germs.

As a warning, when purchasing hand sanitizers, it is important to check their alcohol concentration. Only sanitizers with a minimum of 60% ethyl alcohol, ethanol or isopropanol can effectively kill the most harmful bacteria. These items should be kept away from children, since the high concentration of alcohol could result in alcohol poisoning if ingested. However, hand sanitizers are not cleaning agents. Therefore, when removing blood or other bodily fluids from your hands, you must wash your hands first in order for the alcohol in the sanitizer to be effective.

Advantages of Having your Own Website

October 25, 2009 · Filed Under Web Hosting · Comment

Why is it so important for your business to have a website? Have you noticed how most business cards and promotional materials have an additional line in their contact information? Yes, those website addresses that we frequently see on business cards, advertisements, and promotional materials.

More and more businesses are now seeing the advantages of being online. Having a website gives your company a new venue for reaching thousands of people, a place where they can learn about your company, your products and services, and get in touch with you, anytime, from anywhere around the globe. So what rewards does having a website offer?

Having a website increases awareness of products and services. Web presence allows you to advertise to millions of prospective clients around the world. Many businesses experience a deluge of inquiries and orders after putting up websites, and you can, too. Being online means you are seen by a larger audience and your chances for sales multiply dramatically.

Cost advantage. Net businesses are extremely aware of how they can profit by being on the Internet; they can advertise their products and services without the huge costs, and delays of printing, publishing and distribution. The market is a global one, which adds greater value to the costs outlaid for promotion and marketing; compared to the limits of offline. E- commerce facilities can be incorporated into the website, transforming 2D screen visuals into user reactive models, for example, consumers can order their products and services online, greatly reducing administration expenses. Reduction of telephone calls to potential customers; follow ups by email; newsletters digitally made, promoted by email or downloadable from the website, with reduction of distribution costs; less promotional material sent out, printed and wasted; extended trading hours without a human presence; are just a few ways to cut costs.

Accessible. A website means you have a place your customers can reach for after-sales support. Your site may provide answers to frequently asked questions, as well as detailed information about your products and services. Alternatively, your site may give a list of e-mail addresses to write to for specific queries, which you can easily and quickly attend to from your own computer terminal.

Security. With a website, it is better to do any business transaction through a secure website that cannot be accessed by hackers. You can also become Paypal or AlertPay verified, this way, buyers will feel comfortable doing business with authentic merchants.

Also, with a website, you can have the opportunity to be found in search engines like Google. This opens up a whole new range of customers! We are not saying you will get to the top of Google for a search like holiday home, but you may get to the top for a search like holiday home sauventerre france.

There are a lot of advantages of having a website, and we should grab this advantages. Computer Stores, Better if Online

August 31, 2009 · Filed Under Hardware · Comment

We live in a very busy world. People are always up and about doing something no matter what time of day it is. Work has become a very big part of our lives and we would often take our work everywhere with us if we could. There seems to be no answer to the question if we work to live or we live to work. To keep up with our busy lifestyle, things are often served to us in a fast way. We can get instant foods, buy at fast food restaurants, and handle different transactions and visit different places at the same time through the marvelous world of the internet.

Online shopping store is very popular among most Internet users. Almost 85 percent of web users in the United States shop online. Korea, with 99 percent, is one of the most popular countries where Internet users shop online. Internet shopping is easy, fast and convenient because users can shop from the privacy of their homes and computers. While online shopping is easy, there are also some precautions you should take as well.

Nowadays, it has become more practical to shop online when you need to upgrade or buy supplies for your computers. Visiting online stores is indeed a lot more convenient than going from one computer store to another. The good news is, now you don’t even have to leave the office or your home to find the items and services that you need. Any time of the day or night, you can just log on and find bargains, supplies and services for your computer at several online shops.

Using an online store is usually easy, depending on the content and layout of the website. Arranged categories mean that it’s simple to find the exact item you need by price, product or brand name. A lot of good websites even have search boxes where you can just type in the name or brand of the product you’re looking for. When your item appears, you can take your time reviewing the item’s specs and price. There is no salesman to bother you at all!

Online computer stores provides different products with different brands and provide reviews on those products that provide valuable insights about the product and are often very useful for the consumers. These reviews are useful for comparing different products listed on the site. Some online stores provide or link to supplemental product information, such as instructions, safety procedures, demonstrations, or manufacturer specifications. Some provide background information, advice, or how-to guides designed to help consumers decide which product to buy. Online stores describe products for sale with text, photos, and multimedia files, whereas in a retail store, the actual product and the manufacturer’s packaging will be available for direct inspection (which might involve a test drive, fitting, or other experimentation).
